My Teaching Credentials↓
I am a Berklee College of Music graduate with over 20 years of teaching and performing experience. My collaborations with some of the most influential names in the biz have made me a well rounded musician and a more capable instructor, so what I can share with my students reaches beyond the basic technical level.
Teaching Method↓
My approach to teaching is founded on the principle of trying to make you sound like you. Everyone has their own unique personal and musical fingerprint that makes you who you are. So I start from working on the music and songs that made you want to play an instrument to begin with. Each song will present its own different techniques and problems to solve, so we’ll let the music guide us rather than some rigid method book or static one-size-fits-all system. This gets you diving into the songs you like right away and makes everything you learn directly applicable to the styles that appeal to you.
Instruments & Age Range↓
I offer electric and acoustic guitar, as well as bass and ukulele lessons to anyone aged 7 and up, from beginner to advanced skill levels.
Lesson Length↓
Lessons are 45 minutes to one hour depending on age and interest. I offer a free, fifteen-minute trial video lesson to students still on the fence about diving into lessons, and I am happy to provide a beginner’s gear list for anyone just starting out.
Pricing↓
Please inquire directly for pricing as rates vary by skill level and location (for in-person lessons).
Where Do We Meet?↓
I am flexible on lesson location, typically offering lessons in the student's home, virtually (via Zoom), or in my personal home studio.
“A lesson with Wes is less like a guitar lesson and more like time spent with a friend that’s a great guitar player…
…His lessons are a balance of technical learning (the frustrating part) and playing things that sound like music (the fun part)! By the 2nd or 3rd lesson we were able to play along together. The lessons always start with some warm ups and review of some practice drills, then we’d cue up a song of my choosing, he’d listen along, then teach me how to play it! Wes is patient, thoughtful, and extremely talented - no YouTube channel or lesson at a standard music studio can compare! You’ll truly get more than your money’s worth.”
